Here are articles I wish I had known about as a Facebook newbie...

Facebook Applications and Privacy - How to Configure Facebook Applications
Whenever you add a facebook application, you're given a bunch of options, such as whether to allow the application to "Know who I am and access my information" -- ever wondered what these checkboxes refer to? Here's an excellent article explaining this and other important facebook privacy options. I wish someone gave me this article when facebook began having 3rd-party applications.

I asked Facebook:

“It's not clear to me (and probably to many facebook users) whether
deleting an item from my own mini-feed will also remove it from my friends' news feed page… I don't want to spam my friends everytime I make a minor edit to my profile. Thanks for clarifying.”

Violet from Facebook responded:

“Hi George,
Sorry about the confusion. Deleting a story from your Mini-Feed
does not remove it from your friends' News Feeds. Unfortunately, the
functionality you are requesting is not currently available. We will
keep your suggestion in mind, however, as we continue to improve
the site. Let me know if you have any further questions.”

I'm impressed by Facebook's customer service – they've always been fairly quick (well, within 3 days) with answers.

Many people don't realize how easy it is to find old classmates (high school, college, and grad school) by simply:

(1) updating the Education section of your facebook profile to list the college/high school and years of your graduation
(2) then going back to your profile, scroll down to your Education box (usually where your Work info is located), and click the graduating year.
Hello, classmates!
